Synplant satisfied with Bijlsma Hercules pre-grader

Potato cultivation

Potato growing conditions in Luxembourg were not as bad as expected and seed potato yields appear to be in line with previous years. "The quality is good to very good of the 35 varieties that Synplants grows," says Christian Horn, director of Luxembourg seed potato trader Synplant. The grower has a capacity of 16,000 tons of seed potatoes at its Luxembourg cooling and sorting location. Synplants recently installed a new Bijlsma Hercules pre-sorter for potatoes that are supplied directly from the fields in bulk. "The line also sorts different calibres of interest for replanting in the following years (25-35 mm, 35-55 mm, the sizes most requested by consumption potato growers). The Bijlsma Hercules machine also fills 1250 kg wooden crates at a speed of approximately 30 tons per hour. "

"We chose Bijlsma Hercules because they have excellent machines and they deliver good service. The assembly of the delivered machine took only two hours. The new machine enables us to process 60 tons of seed potatoes in one with just 4 people. The harvest season is very short, so we wanted to ensure that we did not have to deliver everything to our stores at once, but more spread out. The new pre-sorter helps us with that, "concludes Horn.
